Tea Partiers Practice Open Bigotry and Racism in DC

There comes a time in every group's existence when it has to answer the fundamental questions of "who are we?" and "what do we stand for?"  Until now, I've been pretty clear on what the teabaggers do not want.  They do not want anything proposed by President Obama, even when those proposals are in their own best interest.  This would be true of teabaggers who paid lower taxes this year (they don't even know anything about tax rates) and/or those who would have access to better healthcare.

But is this who they are?

Demonstrators outside the U.S. Capitol, angry over the proposed health-care reform bill, shouted "nigger" Saturday at U.S. Rep. John Lewis, a Georgia congressman and civil rights icon who was nearly beaten to death during an Alabama march in the 1960s.

The protesters also shouted obscenities at other members of the Congressional Black Caucus, lawmakers said.

(snip)

Protestors also used a slur as they confronted Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., an openly gay member of Congress. A writer for Huffington Post said the crowd called Frank a "faggot."

Screaming slurs wasn't enough, apparently.  Rep. Emmanuel Cleaver (D-MO) was spit on.

So this is who you are, teabaggers?  You can't articulate your arguments with any relative facts, so when push comes to shove you use the push and the shove?  If this weren't so sick I'd feel sorry for you, misguided and used as you have been by the GOP.

  1. Listening to the GOP distance themselves from "a few people" on Meet the Press this morning. Do you know how many racist signs you can find on the internet being held by teabaggers? I don't think this racism is "a few people getting stupid," as I just heard.

  2. http://twitter.com/jcohntnr/statuses/10831019104 "Protester shouts 'kill the bill' in house gallery; removed by security. Republicans cheer."

If Republicans don't like being represented by people who unapologetically shout nigger and faggot in public places you'd never know it.

They funded these people, they deserve all the blowback they get.

  3. Devin Nunes (R-CA) just minimized the whole thing on CSPAN before the house was called to order. I thought my head would explode.

  4. I love how liberal bloggers, so desperate to deflect attention away from this shitty bill that the public hates, are so quick to jump all over the words of a few to smear the opposition.

The bill sucks and will be repealed before it takes affect. lol

That's video taken where supposed racist statements were made against Lewis and other Black Caucus leaders. I didn't hear any shouts of nigger or anything other than "Kill the Bill!" and boos.

  6. Anon: Congrats. You have the only anonymous comment that will ever make it on the blog. I didn't think it would be fair to reject you since I don't publically say that we don't accept anonymous comments. But I'll remedy that. Thanks for stopping by.

  8. Just like a typical liberal blogger, unable to deal with differing opinions so you stop people from being allowed to have them.

It's amazing how if you shut out all outside opinion you're always right and everyone always agrees with you!

  9. You prove me wrong, anon. You got the 2nd in there before I got my box up. Just identify, and you're good to go (note, you can even pick a moniker instead of your real name). I believe Waverly, who clearly disagrees with me about much, is currently one of my most published commenters.

Refer to my post about Troll Alerts. I had a little bug (could it be you, little bug?) who wanted to insult me and other posters/commenters. So I had to implement moderation. Not that I owe you this explanation. You come into my space and insult me. Such bad manners!

Anyway, all comments, except the little bug's, have been published. Oh, and one of my fellow liberal blogger's. He said ugly things to the little bug that I couldn't publish and maintain my integrity.

So don't insult me, other writers/commenters, and identify yourself, and you should be fine to offer your dissenting opinion as often as you like.

    Have an excellent evening.

    SG

  10. It's funny how no one bothered to comment on the video I posted that blows away the most egregious claims about racism. Funny.
